You may have heard that the health insurance Marketplace is going to offer a special enrollment period to give people more time to get coverage due to the pandemic. Health coverage is so important right now because of COVID-19. We want to be sure you understand what’s happening and how it affects you and your loved ones.
There are two main things you need to know:
If you enrolled in a 2021 plan during Open Enrollment, you’re all set! You should have all your member materials, and you can start using your plan when you need care. Now’s a great time to register for your online account at floridablue.com, download the Florida Blue app and start earning rewards toward your premium with the Better You Strides online health and rewards program.
Anyone who doesn’t have 2021 coverage can enroll. While no new health plans are being offered, individuals and families who couldn’t enroll during Open Enrollment have another chance to get coverage for this year. From February 15 to May 15, our agents can help them shop and enroll in a plan and find out if they can get a subsidy to help with some or all of the cost of their premium.
Normally, Open Enrollment in the fall is the only time to enroll in a health plan unless there’s a special circumstance. So, this is a unique opportunity for anyone without a plan to enroll and have 2021 coverage starting the first of the following month. If you have family or friends who didn’t enroll during Open Enrollment, pass this information on to them.
If you’ve had a life-changing event since you enrolled or have questions about your plan, we’re here for you.
