Grill It Safe
Even if you have been grilling out for years, take a look at these precautions before you fire up your grill and toss a steak on an open flame.
- Make sure to marinate your meat before you cook. When you do, make sure to keep the meat cold in the fridge while it marinates.
- Thaw meat completely before grilling.
- Remove fat from meat before cooking.
- Remove any charred portions from meat before you eat it.
- Use a meat thermometer to make sure your meat is a safe temperature. Poultry should be at least 165 F. Beef, pork, lamb and veal should cook until at least 145 F.
